Can You Earn Robux by Playing Roblox Games?

In short

Not from Roblox itself: Roblox does not pay anyone for playing. Robux come from buying them, from a Premium subscription, or from selling things you create. What does pay you for playing is a third party that someone else is paying to send players. On Buxy, Playtime pays real Robux for staying in a sponsored Roblox game for the minutes shown on its card, checked every minute through Roblox, and the partner games in the offer wall pay for reaching a goal in a game, usually a mobile one. Donation games like PLS DONATE are different: they pass on Robux that other players choose to give you.

Whatever you earn on Buxy lands in your balance, and you withdraw it to your Roblox account through a game pass, where Roblox keeps its usual 30%. Anything that promises Robux for nothing, or asks for your Roblox password, is a scam.

Roblox does not pay you to play Roblox. Not for hours played, not for badges, not for finishing an obby. The Robux in anyone’s account were bought, came with a Premium subscription, or were earned by selling something that person made. What does pay players for their time is someone else: a developer who wants people in their game, or an advertiser who wants people to try theirs.

Does Roblox pay you to play?

No. Roblox pays creators, not players. The people who earn Robux from a game are the ones who made it, through game passes and items they sell. Roblox keeps a share of every one of those sales, which is the 30% marketplace fee you will meet again when you withdraw.

That is why every honest answer to “how do I earn Robux by playing” involves a third party. Somebody has to have a reason to pay for your time.

Ways that actually pay you for playing

Playtime: play a sponsored Roblox game

Roblox developers need real players in their games, and some pay to get them. On Playtime, a developer sponsors their game, and you earn the Robux on its card for staying in it for the minutes the card shows, without leaving. Buxy checks every minute through Roblox that you are still in the game, and pays you when the timer is full.

It is the closest thing there is to being paid simply to play Roblox, with two limits worth knowing. Each game pays once per Roblox account, or once a day when the card says so. And games only appear while a developer is running a campaign, so some days there are several and some days there are none.

Partner games on an offer wall

Reward sites also list games from advertisers, usually mobile games, that pay when you reach a goal: a level, a building, a number of days played. These are not Roblox games, and they take real time, often days. The reward is paid because the advertiser earns from new players who stick around, so the goals are set to make sure you do.

Donation games like PLS DONATE

In donation games, other players can give you Robux by buying the game passes on your stand. Nobody is paying for your time here, so what you get depends entirely on other people’s generosity, and Roblox takes its cut before it reaches you. How PLS DONATE really pays out covers the details.

What to avoid

  • “Free Robux” games inside Roblox. A Roblox game cannot create Robux. One that promises them for finishing an obby or watching a timer is fishing for your account.
  • Generators. No outside site can add Robux to your account. What Robux generators actually do explains the trick.
  • Anything that asks for your password. No legitimate reward site needs it. Playtime only needs to see which game you are in.

How to earn Robux safely has the full checklist to run on any site before you give it your time.

How Playtime works, step by step

  1. Pick a game and tap Start. Your spot is held for 10 minutes, so jump into the game before the timer runs out.
  2. Let Buxy see your game. In Roblox, open Settings → Privacy → Visibility and set “Show current game” to Everyone. You can switch it back when you are done.
  3. Play without leaving. Stay for the minutes on the card. If you leave and two checks in a row miss you, the session ends without paying, and you can start again from zero if the card still has spots.
  4. Get the Robux. About a minute after the timer is full, they land in your Buxy balance on their own.

Most games only accept Roblox accounts at least 30 days old, so a brand-new account cannot join. The games that are live right now are on the Playtime page.

How you get the Robux

Everything you earn on Buxy, from Playtime or anything else, goes into one balance. To move it to your Roblox account, you create a game pass on a game you own and Buxy buys it. Roblox keeps its 30%, so the minimum withdrawal of 5 Robux arrives as 3. How Robux payouts work walks through it.

Frequently asked questions

Can you get Robux just by playing Roblox?
Not from Roblox. Roblox does not pay players for their time. You can be paid for playing through a third party that a developer or an advertiser is paying, such as Playtime on Buxy, where a developer sponsors their game and you earn Robux for staying in it for a set number of minutes.
Do any Roblox games give you free Robux?
Not on their own. A Roblox game cannot create Robux. When a game passes Robux to you, they are someone else's: donations from other players in games like PLS DONATE, or a giveaway from a group's owner. A game that promises free Robux for finishing an obby, or asks for your login, is a scam.
Is getting paid to play Roblox safe?
It can be, if the site never asks for your password. Playtime only needs to see which game you are in, which Roblox shows when you set "Show current game" to Everyone. Remember that anyone on Roblox can then see your game and join you, and switch the setting back when you are done.
How many Robux can I earn by playing?
It depends on the game. On Playtime the developer sets the reward, and each game card shows the Robux and the minutes before you start. Each Roblox account earns once per game, or once a day when the card says "Every day".
Do I need to install anything?
No. You play Roblox the way you always do. Buxy checks your public Roblox status every minute while the session runs, and the Robux arrive on their own about a minute after the timer is full.
Why do I have to show my current game?
It is the only way to see that you are in the right game without asking for anything else. Roblox only shares it when you allow it, and if Buxy cannot see your game for two checks in a row, the session ends without paying.
