Roblox Premium vs Buying Robux: Which Is Better?

In short

At every matching price, Roblox Premium grants more Robux than the equivalent one-off package: 450 against 400 at $4.99, 1,000 against 800 at $9.99, and 2,200 against 1,700 at $19.99. Premium also adds 10% to any Robux you buy on top of the stipend, and unlocks trading and selling.

So on the numbers alone Premium wins, and the only real reason to buy a package instead is wanting a single charge rather than a recurring one. The comparison changes if you are not spending every month: a subscription you forget to cancel costs more than the packages it beat. Premium is also what makes the Developer Exchange available, since DevEx requires an active membership. And if you are not buying Robux at all, neither option applies — earning them is a separate path with its own trade-offs.

Roblox Premium is a monthly subscription that grants a Robux stipend, and at every price point it hands out more Robux than the one-off package that costs the same. That is the whole comparison in one line. The interesting question is not which gives more Robux — it is whether a subscription is the right shape for how you actually spend.

The like-for-like comparison

$9.991,000 R$ / month800 R$ once+200 R$
$19.992,200 R$ / month1,700 R$ once+500 R$

Premium figures are per month, for as long as you stay subscribed. Package figures are a one-off purchase.

Every row favours Premium, and by a wider margin as the price goes up: 50 extra Robux at the bottom tier, 500 at the top. Both columns come from Roblox’s published pricing — the Premium tiers and the package ladder. And the stipend repeats every month while the package does not.

Premium is not only the stipend

Three things come with it that a package cannot give you:

  • 10% more Robux on anything you buy. At the 10,000 Robux tier that bonus is worth several times the subscription itself — the one case where subscribing purely to buy Robux more cheaply is straightforward arithmetic.
  • Trading and selling limited items. The collectible resale market is closed to you without it, no matter how large your balance is.
  • Selling avatar items in the Marketplace. Required if you want to earn from clothing and accessories rather than only from gamepasses.

When a package is still the right call

A subscription keeps charging. If you want Robux for one specific thing and then nothing for six months, a package is honestly the better fit — you spend once and it is done. Premium’s advantage only exists while you are paying for it, and it renews monthly until cancelled.

There is also a decision-hygiene argument, especially if the account belongs to a child: a package is a bounded amount of money, and a subscription is an open-ended one that is easy to forget. The maths favours Premium; the budgeting favours the package.

The third option nobody puts in the comparison

Both sides of this argument assume you are paying. You do not have to. Advertiser-funded rewards platforms pay Robux for completed offers and surveys — slower than a purchase, but the money comes from advertisers rather than from you. How to get Robux without buying them covers that route and the three others that actually work.

Working out what you need

Before choosing, it helps to know what you are actually aiming for. The Robux calculator prices any amount, and how much Robux $10, $25 and $50 buy lays out the package ladder in dollars.

Frequently asked questions

Is Roblox Premium worth it?
If you buy Robux every month, yes — every Premium tier grants more Robux than the package at the same price, and it adds a 10% bonus on further purchases plus the ability to trade and sell limited items. If you want Robux once, a package is simpler and does not recur.
Does Premium give free Robux?
It gives a monthly Robux stipend, which is not free — you are paying for it in the subscription. What it does is give more Robux per dollar than buying the same value in packages.
Do you need Premium to sell items on Roblox?
Yes for avatar items in the Marketplace, and yes for trading limited items. You do not need Premium to sell gamepasses in your own experience, which is why that is the usual free starting point for creators.
